The gentleman who bought the Thunderbird new lived in Oregon. He had a minor accident and there was some damage done to the front end. Shortly after the wreck, he had a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital. On the way home from the hospital, be had another heart attack and never got to see his car. From there the car sat for a lot of years.
My son sent to Washington State to pick up an old Mustang that he was going to restore. Upon arrival in Washington State, he discovered the Mustang had a blown head gasket. The person who had the Mustang knew the person who owned the TBird. My son called me and from there I became the owner of this great old car. The car is now in the New Caney, TX area about 40 miles northeast of Houston.
There are three groups of pictures
1. Inside Restoration.
2. Heater and under hood restoration.
3. Pictures showing the car after the initial restoration was done.
This is still a project car. A lot has been done to it, but there is still a lot of things that can be done to make it like new.
Please contact me (Jerry)if you have additional questions. I have set up an email address for this car. It is tbird1967@lycos.com.
The TBird has a 390 cid motor, C6 transmission, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, manual crank windows, manual door locks, power driver’s seat, manual passenger seat. It has a AM/FM radio that stopped working shortly after the car arrived in Houston.
This car is 41 years old, and there are general maintenance items that need to be done. I had the transmission serviced and the oil changed and discovered that a new exhaust manifold gasket needs to be installed as there is a small leak. I am working that problem now.
I have had the transmission serviced and the oil changed, the rear end oil checked, and the tie rod and ball joints greased recently.
The factory service manual and drivers manual as well as some other documentation will be included with the sale of the car.
